BittWare, part of the Molex group of companies, has a 30-year track record of successfully designing and deploying advanced FPGA accelerator products, being able to address demanding enterprise-class requirements for customers deploying solutions in volume.

Xiphera is a member of BittWare’s Partner Program, offering reduced innovation risk and faster time-to-market for BittWare’s clients. Xiphera contributes to BittWare’s Partner Program with MACsec (Media Access Control security) IP applied for BittWare’s acceleration cards.

Security with MACsec

Xiphera’s MACsec product family, offered as part of BittWare’s Partner Program, provides high-speed IP cores implementing the MACsec protocol and enabling secure communications.

Benefits for the customer

As BittWare’s partner, Xiphera provides proven IP and hardware solutions to enable reduced innovation risk and faster time-to-market for BittWare’s clients.

Solutions for SoC

The advanced, powerful, and highly secure cryptographic implementation of cybersecurity capabilities on SoC (System-on-Chip) provide appealing solutions to the IP for SoC marketplace.

MACsec protects critical communication

MACsec (Media Access Control security) provides high-speed data confidentiality and integrity. The MACsec protocol is standardised in IEEE 802.1AE and it provides data protection for the data link layer. MACsec defines security for Layer 2 in the OSI model, offering high-security protection for critical point-to-point communication for various industries and use cases.

Key features

  • High performance: The MACsec IP core achieves a throughput in the tens of Gbps range.
  • Moderate resource requirements: The MACsec IP core requires 53842 Adaptive Lookup Modules (ALMs) (Intel® Agilex® F).
  • Standard compliance: Xiphera’s MACsec product offering is fully compliant with the MACsec protocol as standardised in IEEE Std 802.1AE-2018. The cipher suite is fully compliant with the Advanced Encryption Algorithm (AES) standard, as well as with the Galois Counter Mode (GCM) standard.

Use cases

MACsec originally protects critical communication in wired local area networks. Other possible use cases include for example messages in communication network, measurement data in industrial automation, secure point-to-point video links, as well as cloud or data center communication with secure IoT devices.
