nQrux® Secure Boot

nQrux® Secure Boot uses a hybrid signature scheme, offering a fundamental building block for creating trust in computing systems.

nQrux® Secure Boot enhances system security by enabling quantum-secure authenticated boot, crucial for verifying the authenticity and integrity of binary images during the processor boot sequence. The protection is rooted in a hybrid digital signature scheme that utilises ECDSA elliptic curves and quantum-secure ML-DSA, both IP cores from Xiphera’s portfolio. ML-DSA signatures are designed to counter threats from quantum computing, while ECDSA provides a reliable fallback to guard against potential vulnerabilities in the newer quantum-resistant algorithms.

Xiphera’s nQrux® Secure Boot (product code XIP7410B) is implementable across FPGA and ASIC-based systems and incorporates a process-agnostic design approach.

This IP core is an essential solution for securing systems against both contemporary and emerging cryptographic threats, ensuring that only fully authenticated software is executed during system startups

Key features

  1. Enabler for trusted computing: Authenticated boot creates trust in a computing platform by providing cryptographic authenticity and integrity guarantees for programs that are executed in the system.
  2. Secure architecture: The architecture of nQrux® Secure Boot is purely based on digital logic and is implemented without any hidden software components, offering first-grade security as well as easier validation and certification. The solution is not susceptible to side-channel attacks.
  3. Hybrid security: Simultaneous use of ECDSA and ML-DSA protects against both classical and quantum attacks.
  4. Easy integration: The simple 32-bit interface supports easy system integration.
